ESOL - Certificate in Science Entry 3 at Harrow College

Course description

Learners who wish to improve their written and spoken English, Maths and IT skills and want to go on to further studies or employment. Students will have an interest in Science.

Course content

You will study a certificate in science and qualifications in English and maths.

A variety of methods will be used including group work, pair work, role play, written assessments, listening and speaking tasks, use of course book material, reading exercises and some laboratory work.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are needed. Student's level of English will be assessed by a written test during interview at enrolment. There will also be an apptitude test in basic Science and Maths.


Students will be continually assessed during class hours. There are internal assessments and external exams set at the end of each unit or mode of study.

Future opportunities

Progression will be to ESOL GCSE Science or mainstream courses such as BTECs.

Equipment or materials:

Students will be expected to have A4 lined paper, pens and pencils, a ring binder as well as a dictionary.

Students may be asked to buy a course book as well as writing material.
