IT Users Level 1 at Wiltshire College
If you want to improve your IT skills and knowledge in a wide range of software applications, and would like to understand how computers work and how to maintain them, this is the course for you.
The course looks at a wide range of business and IT applications including internet, email, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, presentation, audio and video.
You will study a range of different topics including:

- UnUsing the Internet
- Using email
- Using Collaborative Technologies
- Audio Software
- Video Software
- Database Software
- Imaging Software
- Presentation Software
- Spreadsheet Software
- Website Software
- Word Processing Software
- Using a Keyboard
Optional units can include:
- City and Guilds Level 1 Systems Support
- UnDismantle, assemble, install and maintain a Desktop computing system
- Fundamentals of computing systems and customer care
4 GCSEs at grade E or above, including Maths or English, or equivalent

You will be expected to undertake some private study to meet the demands of the programme.
All BTEC units are internally assessed by means of centre-devised
assignments and all assessment for the BTEC Level 1 is criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified outcomes.
Each unit has specified criteria to be used for grading.
A summative unit grade will be awarded at pass grade.
All assessment is subject to Internal Verification and External National Standards Sampling.
The final qualifications will be:
Edexcel Level 1 BTEC Diploma for IT Users (iTQ).
City and Guilds Level 1 Systems Support.
Edexcel Functional Maths and English.
On completion, successful candidates have the following progression options available:
BTEC Level 2 Diploma in IT
BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business
BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Media
Employment opportunities could include working in a Trainee Data Input and computer operations role or as a Trainee IT Support Technician.
