Geography A Level at Riverside College Halton

Course content

You will study a broad range of physical and human geography including the study of coasts, rivers, urban and rural environments. Following this you will investigate geographical topics such as natural hazards, weather, biomes, economic activity and population. In addition you will gain the opportunity to develop synoptic skills, such as analysis and evaluation and fieldwork skills such as collecting data.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 A-C GCSE subject passes, including a minimum of 2 grade Bs, one to be in English Language or a related subject.


You will be assessed by modular examination and a coursework project.

Future opportunities

You could progress to a BA Hons degree in Geography, Geology or Physical Science. Following this you could enter employment in the tourism, leisure, business management, water resource, forestry, aid/development and town and country planning industries.
