Entry Level 2 or 3 Programmes (supported learning) at Newton Rigg College

Course description

Entry programmes are for people with additional learning needs or disabilities or who require more support. Ideal for learners that like to be active and on the go, and wants to try new and exciting things. The course develops adult independency and opportunities for future employment.

Course content

Course Themes:

• Recognise types of food and prepare feed for small animals • Assist with cleaning housing for small animals • Recognise healthy farm animals • Work safely • Personal finance • Work as part of a group • Plant an area to attract wildlife • Recognise trees and plants • English and Maths • Healthy living

Entry requirements

There are no formal qualifications required for Entry Level 2

but a commitment to achievement, working outside and

having fun would be required. You need to have completed

Entry Level 2 before starting Level 3.

Future opportunities

Further study:

After Entry Level 2 move on to Entry Level 3.

After Entry Level 3 you could move on to a Level 1 course

such as the Diploma in Land Based Studies or a Level 2

Apprenticeship.

Careers:

Appropriate work in garden centres, landscaping,

conservation, kennels, animal sanctuaries and pet shops.
