Children’s Play, Learning & Development (Early Years Educator) BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

This is a qualifcation that on completion will allow you to work as a fully qualified early years educator with children aged 0 to 5. During the programme you will gain an understanding of the following; health and wellbeing, legislation, the early years curriculum and professional practice, play, development and learning for school readiness, professional development.

Entry requirements

Entry Requirements:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade C and above or a pass grade at a relevant Level 2 vocational course.


Specific Entry Requirements:

GCSE English Language at grade C or above and GCSE maths at grade D or above. You must also hold a clear fully enhanced DBS check.


You will be assessed in the workplace and by completion of a variety of written assessments. The written assessments will consist of internally assessed units and an externally assessed exam and compulsory workplace assessment.

Further information

Learners would be able to enter employment working as a fully qualified early years educator with children aged 0 to 5 in nurseries and pre-schools. It will also enable learners to progress to a higher education.
