Course description

This course will help you become a discerning user of ICT, developing a broad range of ICT skills and knowledge and understanding of ICT. This should form a basis for progression to further learning, including progression from AS to A2, and/or employment. • This specification encourages you to develop: o the capacity for thinking creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically o the skills to work collaboratively o the ability to apply skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT in a range of contexts to solve problems o an understanding of the consequences of using ICT for individuals, organisations and society and of social, legal, ethical and other considerations about the use of ICT o an awareness of emerging technologies and an appreciation of the potential impact these may have on individuals, organisations and society.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in areas of Information and Communication Technology or more general higher education courses as the course offers skills that are useful in lots of subjects. With further training you could go into a job directly related to Information and Communication Technology such as a Computer Programmer, ICT Technician or Website Developer. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge for entering today's workforce across many industries who depend on computers and technology more generally. You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in areas of Information and Communication Technology or more general higher education courses as the course offers skills that are useful in lots of subjects.
