Level 2 Technical Certificate for Recreational Assistants at Henley College Coventry

Course description

his qualification has been developed in collaboration with employers and professional sport bodies and ensures that you  will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to work as a recreational assistant.

You will study:

  • Principles of the recreation assistant role
  • Working in leisure operations
  • Maintaining a sport and leisure facility
  • Ensuring poolside safety
  • Customer service
  • Organising a sport and active leisure event

You will be assessed on a variety of coursework assignments to include; presentations, case studies, formal reports, laboratory reports and other practical activities and exams.

You will have the chance to work with local sports providers to undertake work experience, and attend external talks from sports companies.

You can progress on to a Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning,
Level 2 Certificate in Leisure Operations, Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instruction (Gym or Exercise to Music) or alternatively, seek full-time employment in an associated sport and leisure organisation or join the apprenticeship scheme.

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs grade D-G with a D in English or Maths and /or a level 1 in a vocationally relevant subject and a positive year 11 academic reference. There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication at level 1.
