Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in Sport at Bournville College

Course description

The OCR Level 2 Technical Diploma aims to provide learners with an introduction to a number of roles through an engagement with physical education and sport including teaching, activity leadership and coaching for young people. The qualification provides learners with guidance on further opportunities, including how to contribute to a variety of sports programmes as a sports leader and/or coach. This Level 2 programme provides a great stepping stone to our Level 3 Sports programmes and in addition provides an opportunity to re-sit English and Maths GCSE for those who did not achieve a C grade.

Anatomy and Physiology for Sport
Fitness Testing and Training
Nutrition for Sports Performance
Development of Personal Fitness
Effects of Exercise on the Body Systems
Planning and Leading Sports Activities
Technical Skills and Tactical Awareness for Sport

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs grade D which must include English and Maths. Have a passion for sport and coaching.

Assessment

Students will be continually assessed throughout the year by:
Assignment/Coursework
Portfolio evidence
Practical demonstration/assignment
Task-based controlled assessment
Questioning of underpinning knowledge - either verbal or written
Peer assessment and participant feedback
Notes completed during the course
Video/photographic evidence
Witness statements

Future opportunities

On successful completion and based on attendance, punctuality, meeting deadlines and behaviour, students have the opportunity to progress onto one of our BTEC Level 3 courses.
