Business BTEC level 3 double award at The Thomas Aveling School
This qualification has been developed in the Business sector to focus on education and training for employees working in business administration, marketing, human resources, accounting, ICT, legal and management areas of business.
Students will organise an enterprise event, enter a marketing competition at Kent Business School, organise a training programme and prepare a creative brief for a London Advertising company.
Key Stage 5 topics include:
- The Business Environment,
- Personal and Business Finance,
- Managing an Event,
- International Business,
- Market Research
- and other business related topics.
Students undertake research and as such have a considerable choice as to what to include in their assignments. A firm grounding in general principles is provided through the use of texts, case studies, assignments, visits, mini projects and work experience. Students are expected to be able to consider their findings and be prepared to give oral presentations to their peers and visiting business people.
A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at Grade A* - C is needed in subjects relevant to the course. There is no requirement for students to have studied Business before.
Last year the majority of the Business Studies students at this level took up university places. The others all found jobs in the commercial sector offering specific training and rapid progression into managerial positions.
