Applied Information and Communication Technology A2 at The Astley Cooper School

Course description

Applied ICT has been developed to provide you a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the ICT sector. The three units have been designed to be delivered in a work-related context and to allow you to develop an understanding of the ICT sector and the skills and knowledge involved. How is the course examined or assessed? Two units are assessed by means of an e-portfolio. One unit is assessed externally in the form of a practical case study carried out within time constraints. Examinations will be taken in January or June. Additional Information This course would suit you if you would like to acquire an understanding of the main principles of solving problems using ICT and development of skills necessary to apply this understanding. The skills acquired are useful in a variety of employment sectors.

Future opportunities

The course attracts UCAS points for entry to university to achieve a degree in Computing, IT or related fields. - Other further education courses such as BTEC Higher National in Computing, BTEC Foundation degree in Computing. - Seek employment, although you should note that if you wish to work in The field of ICT you will probably have to undergo further training.You will follow this course with two or three other A2 levels or an Advanced Diploma and, additionally, the compulsory core such as PSHE, RE, PE/Games.
