Hair & Media Make-up City & Guilds Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

Whilst studying this course you may find your passion is for hairdressing, media make-up or both.

Depending on your individual skills you may wish to progress to higher level courses (Level 3) which could lead you into a media styling degree, or you may wish to pursue on the job training with an apprenticeship.

Course content

Course content includes:

  • Body art design

  • Eyelash and brow treatments

  • Photographic make-up

  • Applying make-up

  • Colouring and lightening hair

  • Dressing hair

  • Creating a hair addition

  • Client care and communication skills

  • Health and safety

  • Self-tanning application

 

Entry requirements

  • Five GCSEs at grade A* – D

Assessment

On this full-time vocational course you will learn practical skills supported by the completion of written assignments or online assessments on a variety of make-up and hairdressing related subjects.

All practical skills will be observed and assessed regularly throughout the academic year. Your progress is carefully monitored and your tutor and lecturers will help you to stay on track for success.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto Level 3 Hair and Media Make-up course, Level 2 Advanced Hairdressing or specialist training programmes, upon successful completion of this course.

If you aspire to have a career in the media, TV, film, fashion industry or theatre, then this course will give you an excellent introduction to the skills required.

Further information

All students are required to have a kit and uniform for their programme of study. 

Students are expected to take part in a number of work experience opportunities throughout their course, this may require working some evenings and weekends to fit in with performance schedules. 

Students are also encouraged to source their own work experience opportunities and enter competitions to contextualize their skills. 

All students will have the opportunity to showcase their work in our annual showcase event.
