Engineering - Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding level 3 at Kirklees College, Huddersfield Centre

Course description

This level of Apprenticeship is ideal if you want to work in fabrication and welding engineering and have some technical skills and knowledge.

You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard.

To gain these qualifications you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units. Examples include:

• Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation

• Welding materials with mechanised arc welding equipment

• Cutting sheetmetal to shape using hand and machine tools

Entry requirements

A minimum of GCSE grade 5 in maths and 4 in English and science or a technology based subject at grade 4 or above and a multi-choice engineering aptitude test.


Continuous assessment in college and workplace

Future opportunities

Employment, Higher Education (e.g. HNC/HND Engineering) or Higher level Apprenticeship.
