Course content

You take three units in:

Environmental Science - This unit introduces you to scientific ideas about the environment. It aims to provide you with knowledge and understanding of our environment. This unit will feature field trips to study the weather, rocks, soils, plants, animals and water. Laboratory experiments are also a major feature of this unit. The unit is ideal support for your studies in GCSE Science and / or geography.

Surveys, Techniques and Records - This unit will provide you with a basic understanding of the methods used to study our environemnt and the countryside.

Countryside Management - This unit is practically based. You will investigate how the countryside is affected by people and what we can do to manage it. Classwork and fieldwork will be used for teaching and learning in this unit.



Writing reports and assignments for courseowrk is an OPTION on this course. You can do the same on a podcast, a DVD, labelled photopgraphs and in so many other ways ...... personalised choice is at the heart of this course

Future opportunities

This course provides you with a range of skills that perpare you for many careers or, more importanty, further education. This course gives a fantastic grounding for students to progress to more advanced course such as a BTEC National Diploma, Certificate or Award.

Students with high grades in this course will be able to apply for AS level courses.
