Hospitality Services Level 1 at Harrogate College
You will prepare for working in a range of jobs in the catering industry, developing skills in the kitchen, restaurant, bar and customer service.
Units of study include:
• Health & Safety
• Food safety
• Basic Food preparation and cooking
• Basic Food service
Students will be involved with a work placement within the industry, where skills and knowledge will be assessed on the job.
There are no formal entry qualifications but you should enjoy working with people and want to work in the catering industry. You will be invited for an interview at college and if successful will be invited along to a further taster day.
Maths and English functional skills will be delivered to required individual level
No formal exams, work is assessed in a portfolio
Progression can be in a range of routes, level 2 Professional Cookery or Level 2 Food & Beverage Service or onto higher level apprenticeships in hospitality
