IT Application Specialist Apprenticeship Level 3 at City Training Services

Course description

You will be employed in an IT role and will learn in the workplace and complete selected units to build a portfolio of evidence showing your competence in IT hardware, software, security and maintenance.

You will take responsibility for the improvement, security and user understanding of the IT systems in your workplace and make recommendations to ensure up to date equipment and software is available and in place as required.

Course content

The Apprenticeship framework comprises of;


  • Work based assessed Diploma
  • Functional Skills in Maths, English and IT
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities


Diploma in IT User Skills

This Diploma is delivered in the workplace with no College day release requirement.

Mandatory units cover;

Understanding and Implementing the Potential of IT

Developing Personal and Team Effectiveness Using IT

Other units are selected based on the work being carried out on a day to day basis. A Portfolio of evidence is put together for each unit and presented to show competence in that area of work.

The Apprentice is guided and has plans set by an Assessor who will visit in the workplace every 4 weeks.

Entry requirements

Either A- C Grade English and Maths GCSE or achieve a minimum of L1 assessment at application.


Assessed in the workplace and passed by the College for External Verification a unit at a time.
