As / A2 Level Sociology at St Michael's Catholic High School

Course description

Aims of the course:
Sociology is the scientific study of societies across the world and the people within them. Sociology is a subject that relates to the lives of everyone and aims to have its students thinking in a whole new way. The course will introduce you to four different subject areas, relevant to your personal life and have you think about them in a completely different way that you will find fascinating. These subject areas include the family and education in the first year, followed by crime, deviance and religion in the second year. We shall look at how these different areas shape our behaviour and whether there are underlying (hidden) functions of them.

Course content:
You will study the AQA syllabus and study different topic areas in Sociology which provide a broad understanding of the ways in which sociologists approach the study of how societies influence our behaviour.
