Beauty Therapy Techniques City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma (Intensive) at Guildford College

Course description

Complete your training as a beautician with this course, building on the techniques of Level 2.

All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

Course content

Epilation route topics:

  • body massage
  • facial electrotherapy treatments
  • micro-dermabrasion
  • body electrotherapy treatments
  • electrical epilation
  • monitor and maintain health and safety
  • client care and communication
  • working with colleagues
  • promote and sell products and services to clients.

Massage route topics:

  • body massage
  • facial electrotherapy treatments
  • micro-dermabrasion
  • body electrotherapy treatments
  • hot stone massage
  • aromatherapy with pre-blended oils
  • monitor and maintain health and safety
  • client care and communication
  • working with colleagues
  • promote and sell products and services to clients.

Entry requirements

Beauty Therapy Level 2 or equivalent.

You will also need GCSE grade C or above in English and preferably also in Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 - if you don't have this you will need to undertake it during the course.

You will need to have at least 88% attendance from the Level 2 course and maintain it on the Level 3 course.

 

Assessment

Continuous assessment: City and Guilds exams online, assignment work and practical assessments.

 

Financial information

You should allow for the following additional costs: uniform, equipment, essential book list (to be advised), files, resources and an educational visit.

Future opportunities

Employment in beauty salons, department stores, hotels, health spas or cruise ships or set up your own business. Alternatively you could move on to further courses and Higher Education.
