Mathematics Free-Standing Mathematics Qualification at Abbey College, Ramsey

It is available to students who are not taking any other mathematics course and is recommended for students who are studying Physics or Chemistry and not AS Mathematics.
Students sit two AS Mathematics modules in Year 12. The pace is slower than the AS course and students have time to develop confidence and skills and to gradually access the precision and notation needed for AS level work. The course is suitable for students who are not successful on the Year 11 bridging course but who wish to continue studying Maths.
Grade B in GCSE Maths.
The assessment is by examination and two AS modules, Core 1 and Discrete 1, are sat in June of Year 12. The final AS module, Core 2, is sat in June at the end of Year 13.
Students need to be aware that the department supplies students with all of the relevant textbooks but requires a returnable deposit of £10 at the start of the course.
