ArtAdvanced Level at William Brookes School

Course description

The AS/A2 Fine Art course provides a natural progression from
GCSE Art. It has a similar structure and assessment objectives,
offering a familiar route for students into advanced study.

Special features of the course include:
 One unit of coursework and a controlled test in AS.
 One unit of coursework and a controlled test in A2.
 A broad and balanced study of the disciplines of Art and
 Teaching to develop skills in drawing and painting, mixed
media, ceramics, batik and computer graphics/animation.
 An opportunity to develop knowledge of Art, Craft and
Design through personal research.
 The opportunity for students to participate actively in the
course, recognising and developing their own strengths.
 Flexibility to enable students to identify and sustain their own
lines of enquiry.
 An integrated approach to practical, critical and contextual
 Specialist accommodation, ceramics and batik.

Entry requirements

The successful completion of the GCSE Art and Design course to a good grade ‘B’ or above.
