Health and Social Care AS and A Level at Malbank School and Sixth form College

Course description

Health and Social Care AS and A Level is an applied subject for those who are interested in possible careers in either the Health or Social Care sectors. The first year will focus on the needs of clients and the techniques and professional services aimed at meeting those needs. The second year will develop on the AS addressing factors and issues involved in service delivery. Over the years this course has been a favourite for those wishing to go on to study Nursing and Midwifery as well as those interested in training to work within the field of social work. The course has in the past attracted a wide variety of students as they have found it complements other subjects they are studying, such as Psychology, Sociology and Biology. Some have chosen it as a contrast to their other subjects and as something different in which they have an underlying interest in. ICT facilities are available in the Social Science rooms which enables further access for research and writing up of coursework.
