Creative Media Production (Television and Film) BTEC at Tring School

This is a broad based introduction to Media Production. Work experience within the industry is encouraged. The wide range of assignments will offer you the chance to manage and produce professional products with some guidance from the media industry professionals.

You will develop skills in production, planning and research methods, pitching and presentation, scriptwriting, storyboarding and working as part of a team where you will be assigned a range of roles such as Producer, Director, Camera Operator and Editor.



Course content

The course will cover a choice of the following:

Pre-Production Techniques for the creative media industries

Communication skills for creative media production

Research techniques for the creative media industries

Film and video editing techniques

Factual programme production techniques for television

Advertisement production for television

Producing video installation work

Understanding the television and film industries

Corporate and promotional programme production

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs Grade 4-9 or a BTEC First Certificate in Media at Merit level.


50% Coursework and 50% exam / timed assessment throughout the two years. 

Future opportunities

Media Studies is an ideal vehicle to study Media, Film or Communications at University. Students can progress into work in the media industry as junior producers and assistants in various departments

It also complements all other University subjects as it deals with the purpose and technique of presenting ideas.
