Business Studies Level 2 at Sir John Gleed School

Course description

The Level 2 Diploma gives you an all round introduction to the world of business. It develops practical skills through exploring real life business situations and applying the theoretical knowledge gained in lessons. The course introduces different areas of business and also helps develop student knowledge of personal finance. Visits, guest speakers and case studies will be given throughout the course to give as much real life application as there can be.

It will prepare you for employment or allow you the opportunity to progress to a BTEC Level 3. The course will be carried out over a year and you will have to complete 9 units, some of which are listed, to gain the full qualification.

Level 2 Course Content:

Mandatory (core) units:

  • Business Purposes
  • Business Organisations
  • Financial Forecasting for Business
  • People in Organisations

Optional units may include:

  • Business Online
  • Business Ethics
  • Starting a Small Business
  • Managing Personal Finance
  • Visual Merchandising & Display techniques for Re-tail Business

At least 5 GCSE’s at grade A* - G, preferably including English

On successful completion of a BTEC Level 2 qualification in Business, a learner can progress to further study or within employment

To further study

This BTEC Level 2 Diploma also provides a good grounding to allow further study on a more advanced course such as BTEC Level 3 Business Studies or similar course for example an apprenticeship
