Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma at Worthing College
This course gives learners the opportunity to develop their wider understanding of a wide range of the performance arts. The course combines dance, singing, music and drama and has the flexibility to allow students to follow specialised pathways or to develop their skills more broadly. Students can and are encouraged to study this course alongside the Academy of Performing Arts enrichment classes held at lunchtimes in music, drama and dance. There are also many opportunities to get involved in the production side of performances throughout the year.
Four mandatory units; performance workshop, performing arts business, performing to an audience and musical theatre performance. You will also complete at least a further eight optional units.
You will need a minimum of five GCSE'S at A*-C grade or Level 2 Diploma at merit or above. You will also need to demonstrate a real passion for the performing arts and a desire for musical theatre.
Each unit is assessed as coursework; there are no exams. You will receive feedback about your progress throughout the course. Evidence for assessment will be generated through a range of activities, including your own Performing Arts blog that records all written work and can also include oral assessment, presentations, and assessment of practical competency and level of performance.
This qualification will enable you to meet entry requirements for higher education courses and drama schools; this includes the Foundation degree in Musical Theatre delivered at Northbrook. The course also provides an excellent foundation for candidates intending to pursue a career in:
- Stage management
- The arts
