Sport and Outdoor Education Diploma Level 1 and 2 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This course gives you the opportunity to learn about the Outdoor Adventure industry and develop vital skills which will help you towards developing a career pathway in this sector.

The Outdoor activity Industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of employment in the UK, with more and more people wanting to experience Outdoor activities for personal, social and group development.

The Level 1 in Outdoor Activity Leadership will allow you to develop skills in Outdoor Activities through classroom and practical based sessions.

Based at the Royal Forest of Dean campus the course will offer a real life introduction to many great local locations for Outdoor Adventure Sports including the Forest of Dean, the Brecon Beacons and the River Wye.

The course will teach you the importance of health & safety whilst delivering Outdoor Activities and how planning can create a fun, productive and exciting experience for clients. All these vital skills will help students develop a career pathway for the Outdoor Industry.

A series of trips has been arranged throughout the course and these are designed to enhance your learning. It is important to attend all trips as they make up part of your final mark.

Entry requirements

You need to have successfully completed three GCSEs at grade E including English. Selection is based on a successful interview and initial assessment outcome.

You will be informed of fees at the beginning of the course.

Future opportunities

Upon completion, you may be able to move onto the Level 2 Certificate in Outdoor Adventure Education.
