Course description

Music The aim of the course is to allow students to study music in an integrated way with the opportunity to specialise at Advanced level. Students study music as a practical, intellectual and creative subject with specialist pathways in performing and composing. It recognises that we live in an age of cultural diversity and cover a wide range of music: classical, world, popular and jazz. Unit 4 - Specialist option - Composition or recital 15% Unit 5 - Compositional techniques and Performing during course 15% Unit 6 - Analysing Music 20%

Entry requirements

Grade B GCSE or Grade C and instrumental skills at Grade 5 or above

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in Music related courses or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Music such as a Music Composer, Musician, Sound Technician or you may wish to use your music ability for recreational purposes. The course is designed to provide you with access to a range of music related employment and will also develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of other industries are looking for.
