Bench Joinery (Level 2) Apprenticeship at Central College Nottingham
This course is for those employed in the Construction trade as a Bench Joiner. You will attend college one day a week to complete the underpinning knowledge and portfolio building to compile the evidence you need for the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Bench Joinery. You will also study Functional Skills in English and Maths as part of the course and be required to complete an Employment Rights and Responsibilities work booklet to be awarded the full Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework Certificate.
The apprenticeship is made up of the following elements:
- NVQ 2 in Bench Joinery
- Level 2 Diploma in Bench Joinery
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
- Functional Skills in English and Maths
English and Maths are an essential part of your studies and will help you succeed on your course. These subjects will help you develop confidence and are the key employability skills that all employers now look for when recruiting.
You will need 4 GCSEs at grades D or above including English and/or Maths or agreed equivalents. You need to show that you are committed, and aware of your responsibilities to both yourself and the Company you work for.
Each unit is continually assessed. You will present evidence of competence via practical assessments and the production of a personal portfolio.
With a good tutor recommendation, good performance and commitment at work, it is possible for you to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Bench Joinery.
You must be employed as a Bench Joiner before enrolling. You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times during your placement and at college when using any tools /machinery.
