A Level Fine Art at Huddersfield New College
The A Level in Fine Art encourages students to engage with aesthetics and concepts through the use of traditional and digital media, supporting you to progress to a variety of interesting arts-based careers. Studying an A Level in Fine Art inspires students to consider communication in a creative and innovative way. You’ll explore and discover myriad ways in which Art can affect the perception and reality of the world around us, using a variety of techniques and materials. Through these explorations, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your own artistic interests and style, reflecting your personal and cultural identity, the society around you and your place in the world. This qualification is an excellent progression pathway on to higher education. This is supported with work experience opportunities, residential visits, and the opportunity to undertake additional enrichment activities.
Grade 5 in GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature and grade 4 in a relevant GCSE Art subject. If students have not taken a GCSE Art subject, then a portfolio of work will be considered.

A Level Fine Art is a traditional and well-respected A Level subject that can be combined with a variety of academic subjects to support progression to university. However, our students typically consider careers in areas such as Architecture, Advertising, Fashion Design, Teaching, Illustration or Animation.
