NEXTGEN Games, Animation, VFX Skills: Level 3 Extended Diploma at NESCOT

Course description

Nescot has been selected to offer a brand new qualification aimed at helping develop the next generation of talent for the games, animation and VFX industries.  The college is one of four in the country to be selected to deliver the Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Games, Animation and VFX Skills. This is a specialist course, which will offer students the broad variety of learning across these areas employers desire and has a strong focus on team work, communication and critical thinking.

Our level 3 Next Gen: Games, Animation & VFX Skills course has been designed to reflect a wide range of roles within the games, animation and visual effects industries, and as such you will develop your creative, technical and organisational skills across a number of media projects. Using industry standard software and equipment, working individually and in teams, you will complete a diverse set of projects ranging from understanding game engines to producing your own VFX, all developed to prepare you for the next stage of your education or even to gain employment.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C or above (preferably including Maths and English), or BTEC Level 2 course at Merit grade in a related subject.

Assessment

Assessment will be via exams, blogs, portfolios, research and projects, and units will also cover areas such as emerging technologies and programming, as well working on personal development and career planning.   Students can expect to leave with a solid portfolio of work which they can use to move onto higher education or into apprenticeships.

      Nescot is located just off the A240 (Reigate Road), close to the junction with the A24 (Ewell Bypass).  The College is just five miles inside the M25 (Junction 9).
      There is a large, free car park for use by students and visitors.

      By Rail:
      Nescot is served by two mainline railway stations.
      Ewell East (Southern Railway)
      Ewell East is a two-minute walk from the College from a public footpath leading off Platform 2.  Trains run every half-hour from London Victoria.
      Ewell West (South West Trains)
      Ewell West, which is 15 minutes walk from the College, is on the main line from London Waterloo.
