Course description

It is important that you have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in Manufacturing, a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate your ideas effectively. The Double Award GCSE in Manufacturing is made up of 3 units They are equivalent to 2 GCSEs and are graded as a double award on a scale A*A* - G. Unit 1 Designing products for manufacture (Portfolio evidence), Unit 2 Manufactured Products (Portfolio evidence), Unit 3 Application of Technology (External examination).

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for an NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a related subject and depending on your other qualifications, you could progress onto courses leading to the Advanced GCE in Manufacturing. With further training, you could go into a job related to manufacturing such as an Architect, Manufacturing Engineer or Technician. You could also go straight into employment as the course is delivered through a work-based training programme, will help you develop the basic skills, knowledge and understanding that employers across all the manufacturing industries are looking for.
