Classical Greek A-Level at Hereford Cathedral School

Course description

A fast track course for high flyers – especially scientists, medics, linguists, lawyers.  It offers a formal study of grammar and syntax.  The learning and application of its rules is seen by many pupils to be one of the most enjoyable aspects of the language, for its pure regularity and its training in mental adaptability.

Course content

Language, suitably adapted passages of mythology and some of the greatest literature ever written (Herodotus & Homer).

An aptitude for language and a capacity for hard work

Classicists are found in a huge range of careers including banking, accountancy, ICT, journalism, archaeology and museum curatorship. Skills in logical thinking, problem-solving and communication  are highly valued in all walks of life.
