Accountancy Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bedford College
You will learn the accounting principles, experience accounting software and gain an insight into accounting business environments. You must be employed full-time in a related job role before applying for this Apprenticeship.
You will study:
- Accounts preparation
- Costs and revenues
- Indirect tax
There are the following elements, all of which must be achieved to pass the full Apprenticeship:
- Competency-based element at Level 3
- Knowledge-based element at Level 3
- Functional Skills in English and Maths.
You must be employed full-time in a job role relating to your course. We recommend a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths. You will also need a Level 2 AAT qualification and good knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
Accounting technicians are skilled staff employed in jobs ranging from clerks to accounts department managers. They are increasingly required in industry and commerce, so if you have AAT qualifications at any level your prospects will be extremely good. On successful completion you can progress on to our Level 4 Diploma in accounting.

- Data input clerk
- Finance assistant
- Purchase ledger clerk
- Sales ledger clerk.
These professional examinations require a high standard of preparation and considerable commitment if success is to be achieved. You will need to buy set books and join the AAT.
