Engineering BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Preston's College

Course description

If you enjoy working with your hands and want to work in the engineering industry, then this is the course for you. You’ll get a basic insight into the world of engineering and study a broad range of engineering disciplines to give you the perfect launch pad into further study or a career in this exciting and evolving industry.

Course content

This course has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills needed to meet the needs of modern engineering industries. It will give you a broad experience of engineering’s multi-skilled practical roles covering general engineering, electrical engineering and advanced manufacturing.

Entry requirements

A profile of mainly grade E’s at GCSE including English and maths. You must also show an interest in the subject, complete an English and maths assessment, attend an interview and complete a skills test.

Assessment

You will complete projects to show your skills and this will be part of your assessment. You will also complete practical tasks and assignments.

Future opportunities

This course provides a progression path into employment e.g. apprenticeship and to further, intermediate qualifications such as the Level 2 in Engineering. This qualification is relevant to the following careers:
