AS Media Studies at The Beacon School

Course description

Media Studies A Level is a popular contemporary course which offers students an insight into the world of media through looking at TV, film, print media and new media technologies. Students will be required to learn media theory alongside practical production skills to both understand and create their own media texts. Students will develop their higher thinking skills to research and investigate a range of media whilst learning how to shoot and edit video, create podcasts and generate their own blog pages.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as English or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Media Studies, which could lead onto higher education to study Media, related courses within the Arts an Humanities, or more general higher education courses. With Further training, you could go into a job related to media such as a Journalist, News Reporter, TV Producer, Public Relations Officer You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the media and Communication sectors.
