Extended Project Qualification at Friesland School

Course description

This qualification is highly valued by higher education admissions tutors, as it demonstrates that students are genuinely capable of meeting the challenge of independent learning.  The EPQ can be tailored to the individual interests and skills of each student, as it is a process based qualification, which is as much about making mistakes and learning from them, by action planning and self reflection/evaluation, as it is about producing a final outcome.  You will have two periods per week on your timetable to work with your course tutor, alongside the significant amount of further independent work that will be required.  This should be exciting, as you will be selecting a focus for your project which inspires and motivates you.  You could complete a 'traditional' extended essay/dissertation style project or you may take a more practical approach, depending on our skills and interests.  You will be assigned a course tutor, who much like at university, will advise and guide you, but you will be expected to use your initiative and work increasingly independently - which of course is a skill that all potential employers want.
