Business and Entrepreneurship BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Calderdale College

Course description

The course is designed to broaden your understanding and knowledge of business and to develop important personal, academic and business skills. It will also provide you with an insight into entrepreneurship and taking the first step to starting your own business. You will fundamentally develop important personal, academic and entrepreneurial skills that you will put into practice throughout the course.

Course content

You will be involved in identifying & creating business opportunities, business planning, marketing and selling your product or service. This Level 3 qualification will consist of mandatory modules as part of the Business course, then comprise of 9 units delivered over the second year of the two year course. It will cover the fundamental business disciplines as well as some specialised areas to further enhance your knowledge, for example: Business Start Up and Project Management. 

As the programme has an enterprise and entrepreneurship emphasis, you will be expected to engage in a dynamic enterpreneurship expreience, whereby you will be given the opportunity to manage your own business and develop leadership and effective team working skills that will benefit you in the future. 

Entry requirements

An advanced course suitable for those with at least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C  or a relevant level 2 qualification such as BTEC First Diploma to include Maths and English at level 2.

Interview with the sprcialist tutor.

Assessment

Assessment is through l00% coursework, there are no examinations.  This is a practical, work related course and you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic situations.

Financial information

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived.
