Health and Social Care Level 2 at Northampton College
The course provides a thorough introduction for those looking to start a career in Health and Social Care. You will cover basic aspects of caring, needs of the client and how to provide for them.Core units include:- Communication in adult social care- Personal development in adult social care - Diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care- Safeguarding and protection in adult social careAdditional units include:- Understanding person centred approaches- Understanding health and safety - How to handle information in an adult social care setting- An introduction to the duty of careThe method of learning is by classroom activity.Students may also participate in enrichment activities from the wide range of activities available.
Students who wish to seek employment in Health and Social Care areas, or wish to progress to the level 3 Health and Social Care course.
Four GCSEs at Grade D or above including English and Mathematics or an appropriate Level 1 qualification including Functional Skills in English and Mathematics.
Class activities, written assignments, written tests, practical work and group work. A Pass is awarded for the achievement of all outcomes against the specified assessment criteria.
You could consider progressing to a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or Public Services, if a Merit Grade and relevant GCSE qualifications have been obtained.
If you are over 19 at the start of the course you will be required to pay Awarding Board registration fees of £130 (approx) at enrolment.We recommend you purchase the following items and would ask you to be prepared to pay these costs when you enrol with us in September:- Text book: £25- Stationery: £25
