Music Performance & Production BTEC Level 2 Diploma at BSix Brooke House Sixth Form College
The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music is a practical, work-related course geared to Music Technology. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on briefs that reflect the type of work that takes place not just in the Music Industry, but in entertainment, advertising and gaming too.
The BTEC Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A*- C
All students study English and Maths GCSE as part of their programme unless they have already achieved a C Grade or higher.
The course includes:
- Creating, recording and promoting your own music
- Microphones and recording
- Mixing and processing sound
- Sequencing in Logic
- Sampling and synthesis technology for music and sound industries
- Employment opportunities, roles and responsibilities in the industry
. Level 2 Diplomas for students with 4 D grades at GCSE.
Assessment takes place at the end of each unit, you will be given formative feedback and then time to improve your grade.
Your results are recorded on Student Feedback Forms with detailed written notes on what you have achieved backed up with verbal feedback. You will be given constant help support and feedback from your teachers in class with frequent one-to-one contact.
It will introduce you to the sound and music employment areas and also provides a good basis to go on to a more advanced Music Technology qualification such as the BTEC Level 3 Music Technology course. The Level 3 course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is a springboard to work, University or further study.
You could end up working within the Creative Industries in a wide range of roles – for example:
- Sound Designer for film, Games, TV or theatre
- Live Sound Engineer
