Design and Technology (Textiles Technology) A-Level at The Leventhorpe School

Course description

Through the completion of one coursework project at AS and one at A2 students are encouraged to develop their independent designing and making skills. The course is designed to:

  • Encourage candidates to take a broad view of design and technology
  • Develop student's capacity to design and make products and to appreciate the complex relations between design, materials, manufacture and marketing

Entry requirements

rade B GCSE in Design and Technology Textiles

Assessment

Design and Technology is an academic subject and is accepted by any university for admission to an academic course. Equally, it is seen as having an arts based element and is accepted for admission to a wide variety of arts and/or design courses.

AS - 50% coursework 50% written exam

A2 - 50% coursework 50% written exam

Future opportunities

It is very good subject to study if you are considering a career in design (of any type), marketing, fashion/business management or can equally be fun to study as a subject which you enjoy for its own sake.
