Networking - Level 3 Career Colleges at Harrow College

Course description

The course will enable understanding of maintenance and repairing of a computer system along with testing and installation of hardware and software. There will be opportunities to have employer involvement with mock interviews along with guru lectures that may help guide to future career options, for example, IT Network Managers, IT Support, IT Technicians. Visits to companies like BT to help understand industry standards.

Course content

The course introduces you to the fundamentals of computer systems and you will develop a range of software skills including creating spreadsheets, designing websites, information systems, networking and employability skills.

Students will be taught through a variety of classroom activities and homework

Entry requirements

Merit in BTEC/OCR Level 2 Diploma in IT or related discipline, including English and Maths Functional skills pass at L1 or GCSE at Grade D or above OR 3 GCSE grades A*-C including GCSE Maths AND English. Progressing internal students Merit at L2 Diploma in IT with; 90% + attendance, tutor recommendation and L1 Literacy and Numeracy equivalent.


All of your work will be assessed through portfolios.

Future opportunities

The Level 3 Networking course is equivalent to 1 A-Level. It can also lead to a variety of jobs including web development, technical support and software engineer. Progression to year two of the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT to specialize in Systems Engineering pathway learning how to manage networks & maintain computer systems.
