A Level Biology at Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School

Course description

The syllabus builds on the familiar topics already encountered at GCSE. It incorporates new research and technologies, illustrating their applications whilst considering their social, moral and ethical implications.

Students will learn how scientists develop models to explain concepts, and evaluate their merits.

Practical skills will be developed to enable students to complete the practical assessment componenets independently and competently.

Over the course of the two years students will cover Cells, Exchange and Transport; Molucules, Biodiversity, Food and Health; Communications, Homeostasis and Energy and Control, Genomes and Environment.

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade B in Additional Science with special reference to Biology and Chemistry or a Grade B in Biology.
