Art and Design BTEC Level 3 at Don Valley School and Performing Arts College

Course description

The BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design is a two year course designed to introduce you to the broad range of Art & Design activities available at the College.

Course content

The course consists of 18 units; 5 of which are core units. Assignments are set to explore various themes and lead up to a Final Major Project at the end of the 2nd Year.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or better. No more than two applied courses can count towards this total and each applied course counted has the equivalence of only one GCSE, regardless of its nominal size. In addition, students must achieve the specific entry requirements which may apply to this course.


Key/Functional skills are embedded throughout the course, you will be required to take an exam and/or complete a portfolio to achieve these. The course proper is assessed continuously with critiques at the end of each 5 or 6 week project.

Future opportunities

A large majority of previous students have gone on to study degrees in Fine Art Painting & Sculpture, Graphic Design, 3d Design
