WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE?

The National Foundation Diploma is a one year, full-time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress onto the full BTEC extended diploma programme or further courses in business before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or management and Apprenticeships in the business sector.

The emphasis is on doing things – not just writing up reports, etc. but starting up a real business, doing a presentation to real business people, organising an event – things that show you’ve gone beyond just getting a qualification! Work experience takes place over 10 days and helps you gain insight into practical skills, values and attitudes needed in the workplace.

The benefits of studying business are far reaching, as it will also help you to develop your wider skills of employability, problem solving and leadership all skills highly valued in the business sector, by employers and universities.
