Course description

There are a range of units on this one year course; areas of study include promoting children’s rights and children’s activities and play. You will also complete a period of work experience, helping you to gain relevant hands-on experience.

Supporting Children’s Language and Literacy Development, Introduction to the Early Years Sector, Making Healthy Food Choices for Children, Use of ICT in Early Years

Entry requirements

Minimum 3 Grade Ds at GCSE or Equivalent

Grade E — GCSE English Language or Maths (the other GCSE must be an F)

Future opportunities

The course is for Level 2 students aiming to study Early Years Education at Level 3. Completion of the Level 3 Extended Diploma would allow entry to a range of Degree courses at University. This course also prepares you for any job involving children. Previous students have become: nursery nurse, nursery manager, teacher, social worker, children’s nurse, midwife, health visitor, children’s rep, nanny, youth and community worker, police officer, child minder, and many other roles after completion of the Level 2 and 3 course.
