BTEC Sport in Fitness Services Level 3 Equivalent to 2 A levels at Towers School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

The course provides an excellent opportunity for you to combine the theoretical side of sports and coaching with the practical application of that knowledge. The course is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. It introduces you to the employment area you have chosen and provides a good basis to progress to a more advanced worked related qualification or degree course.

 Assessing Risk in Sport
Year 2:    
 Practical Individual Sports
 Exercise, Health and Lifestyle
 Nutrition
 Sports Injuries
 Psychology for Sports Performance
 Sports and Exercise Massage

Entry requirements

C grade in English or English Literature; B grade in GCSE PE; Merit in BTEC Sport.

The ability to work independently and have a basic knowledge and confidence using ICT.


All units are assessed and graded through completion of coursework and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded (MP, MM, DM, DD, D*D, D*D*).  There are no formal examinations.
