Hospitality and Catering BTEC Certificate Level 1 at Bracknell and Wokingham College

Course description

This course is intended for you if you want to learn work-related skills that will lead to employment in Hospitality and Catering or progression onto other college courses.

Course content

You will work at your own pace and level developing skills in areas including: • Customer service • Basic cooking, food preparation and serving • Healthy eating • Food Safety • Managing money • Planning and running an enterprise activity Work is assessed through a variety of methods including practical cooking, role plays, presentations and written work. You will also study Personal and Social Development (PSD) qualifications at a level appropriate to you.

Entry requirements

• No formal qualifications are required • You will have an interview and need to supply a positive reference • If you do not have a grade C in GCSE English Language and Maths you will be required to be working towards achieving this alongside your course

Future opportunities

• Further education - progression onto Level 2 BTEC courses • Employment - in the catering/hospitality industry
