Hairdressing Direct Level 2 Diploma at Lincoln College

Course description

This programme will provide you with a clear understanding of Hairdressing services. You will explore and carry out the latest techniques and trends in styling, cutting and colouring within our fully equipped salons. In addition to this you will be given the opportunity to attend training with manufacturers, showcase your skills in local and national competitions and work on a number of paying clients.
Completion from this course may allow you to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing or into employment; working within a salon environment.
During the course, you will study the following units: Working in the Hairdressing Industry; Following Health and Safety; Client Consultation for Hair Services; Shampoo and Conditioning the Hair and Scalp; Promoting Products and Services to Clients in the Salon; Cutting Women’s Hair; Colouring and Lightening Hair; The Art of Dressing; Creating an Image Based on a Theme within the Hair and Beauty Sector; Salon Reception Duties.


Entry requirements

You will need GCSE’s including Mathematics, English Language and Science (minimum Grade C). You will also be required to pass a skills test as-well as be screened in Maths and English.
You will be required to attend an interview/experience day and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
Those progressing from Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing may be accepted if they have completed Functional Skills, have 90% attendance record and a satisfactory reference from their existing Personal Tutor.


Assessment is a combination of theory and practical assessments with online tests throughout the year.
