Horticulture Diploma Level 3 at Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMET)

Course description

This course provides a broad grounding in horticulture with a wide range of skills and background knowledge and an emphasis on practical knowledge. It is delivered at our campus within Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Edgbaston. You will learn a wide range of technical skills, working with specialised and highly experienced staff. Topics include completing a project in the land based sector, business management in the land-based sector, understanding the principles of plant science and the principles of soil science.

Course content

This course provides a broad grounding in horticulture with a wide range of skills and background knowledge and an emphasis on practical knowledge. Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including maths and English or a Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture. A keen interest in gardening and the outdoors is essential.

Assessment

This course is assessed through a combination of practical hands on activities and written theory work to demonstrate your knowledge.

Future opportunities

You can progress onto a university level course in a range of topics or enter employment as a trainee manager working in gardening, landscaping or grounds keeping
