A Level Religious Studies at Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School

Course description

The Religious Studies course is an exciting and challenging programme of study. the modules build on the knowledge and skills that students have developed through the study of gCSe Religious Studies; they do not, however, assume or require any previous study of the subject. the specification is designed to enable students to develop an interest and enthusiasm for a rigorous study of Philosophy of Religion and Religious ethics. the course includes several different academic disciplines including theology, ethics, philosophy, psychology, sociology and biblical studies.

AS Level (Year 12)

Unit 1 G571 Philosophy of Religion AS 50% A2 25%

Unit 2 G572 Religious ethics AS 50% A2 25%. Each unit is assessed by a 1½ hour exam. Two essay questions to be answered.

A2 Level (Year 13)

Unit 3 G581 Philosophy of Religion A2 25%

Unit 4 G582 Religious ethics A2 25%. Each unit is assessed by a 1½ hour exam. Two essay questions to be answered.

Entry requirements

In order to succeed in this course students will need tohave attained at least gCSe grade B in Religious Studiesand english language.
