Mathematics GCSE re-sit at Lincoln Castle Academy

Course description

This GCSE course is aimed at those students who did not achieve a grade ‘C’ in Year 11 but have a realistic chance of reaching that level if they are prepared to focus on improving their skills in Mathematics. You will develop the skills that you have studied in your GCSE Mathematics lessons but more importantly you will be given the opportunity to develop your understanding and work through any misunderstandings you may have. The skills developed in Mathematics support many other subjects but particularly those which are science based. It almost essential in this day and age to have English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE 'C' or above) to access many careers and higher education routes.

Entry requirements

You will need a Mathematics GCSE grade ‘D’ or ‘E’ if you are to reach the ‘C’ grade target. There must be a high degree of motivation to succeed to be allowed on this one year course.

Future opportunities

Mathematics is an extremely valuable GCSE and many future opportunities require a 'C' grade or above for example teaching, nursing, careers requiring degree level studying and engineering.
