Mathematics AS at Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College
Students follow a six module course. Two pure modules and a statistics module in Year 12 to gain an AS Mathematics. Course content: Algebra, Trigonometry, Indices, Graphs of Polynomials, Calculus, Vectors, Mechanics – Newton’s Laws of Motion, Vectors, Forces.
5 C grades at GCSE including B grade in Maths
You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Mathematics, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Mathematics, related areas such as Engineering, Economics, Physics or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Mathematics such as an Accountant, Engineer, Financial Adviser or Teacher. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
